Hi team,

It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me -- I’m Ana, the Philanthropy Director for California Environmental Voters.

It’s common for folks in my position to reach out around the end of each month, as we strive to meet our goals and fundraising kicks into high gear. But we do things a little differently on our philanthropy team, which is why you’re hearing from me now -- at the start of August. Beginning August 5th, the California State Legislature will be back in session which is the final opportunity for the Senate and the Assembly to pass bills this year.

Our lawmakers are getting ready to reconvene in Sacramento next week, and we’re trying to reach 240 contributions by the time they adjourn on August 31. That’s three donors for every lawmaker we need to engage in order to pass our priority climate bills.

Together, we can demonstrate the immense reach of our people-powered movement to protect California’s future. Can you chip in to help us hit 240? [[link removed]]

My team chose not to set a fundraising goal of a specific amount, but to instead focus on showing our leaders the undeniable breadth and power of our movement. That means it doesn’t matter if you give $100 or $10 or even just $1 (yes, really!) -- any size gift will move us closer to our goal and help showcase the grassroots energy behind our work as we meet with legislators this month. I know there are many places you could give to right now, and we’re grateful just to have you as a member of our community. If you’re already one of our generous and dedicated supporters, thank you for charging our people-powered momentum.

If you’ve never made a contribution before, this is a great opportunity to start supporting the work we do to secure a livable future for Californians and set a model for our country.

There’s no better time to show off our collective power than these next few weeks, when our lawmakers are back at work serving constituents like you and me. Expect to hear more from my team on the exciting work ahead and the progress we’re making together.

Thanks for all you do to support our work,
Ana González
