I want to take a moment to sincerely thank you for your ongoing support for my campaign. When I first announced our plan to run for Governor in March, we weren't sure how Californians would respond to an early launch.
But you helped prove we have real enthusiasm behind this campaign. I'm proud to share that we have raised just over $1 million since launching our campaign. And better yet, our average donation has been under $200 and we have over 3,500 contributions. This is a different kind of campaign, and that’s why we’ll win.
Raising over $1 million to kick off our campaign was no easy feat. I don't come from a wealthy family to self-fund my campaign like others can. And I made a commitment early that we would be fueled by individual donors – not reliant on cash from corporate PACs and special interests.
It’s simple, John. If we truly want better outcomes in the governor's mansion, it needs to be reflected in the way we campaign for it. That's why I'm doing things differently. We’re relying on hardworking Californians who have the most at stake to power our efforts – with donations of $5, $50, even $250 at a time.
That's how we create real change from the ground up, and I'm humbled that thousands of Californians are on board as early supporters of our race. Thanks to each and every one of you; we are off to an exceptionally strong start.
