Even before I could grow a stache, I knew I wanted to serve my community, just like my father did before me. 

I never imagined that this kid would be elected as the first President of the Orange County Professional Firefighters Association and hold that position for 17 years.

Or that my brothers and sisters on the frontlines would trust me as their Vice President of the California Professional Firefighters and a Vice President of the Orange County Central Labor Council (AFL-CIO). 

CA-40 taught me how to be a teammate, and then, a leader. I learned how to advocate for my family, friends, and fellow firefighters.

I helped get over 200 bills and initiatives passed and signed into law by five governors and two presidents. These bills and initiatives offered solutions to public safety, climate change, and policies to help working people. 

When firefighters and first responders needed a new healthcare system, I created one that reduced costs, increased benefits, and didn’t raise a penny in taxes.

I hear you and want to represent you because I am one of you. 

And this July, I celebrated my 27th wedding anniversary with the love of my life, China, without whom I could not have done any of this.
