Cultivating Tomorrow's Food Leaders with the 2024 STEM Challenge
The 2024 4‑H STEM Challenge, Food for Thought, is available for purchase. The kit provides young people with a hands‑on experience as they explore the topic of food security and its impact on the world, empowering them to innovate and create positive change in their communities.
Developed by Council and 4‑H educators from LSU AgCenter, North Dakota State University, Penn State Extension, and the University of Nebraska‑Lincoln, the new STEM Challenge is a collection of three activities that equip kids with STEM‑based skills as they embark on a journey to learn more about food security.
The 2024 4‑H STEM Challenge was developed with support from Corteva, HughesNet, Invenergy, and Nestle USA.
Council Welcomes Two New Trustees and Launches Investment Subcommittee
The National 4‑H Council Board of Trustees voted to add two new members who will help strengthen the organization's commitment to preparing a new generation of young leaders for work and life. Janice Abraham, retired President & CEO of United Educators, and Darci Vetter, Head of Global Public Policy at PepsiCo, bring extensive experience and expertise to support Council's mission to increase investment and participation in Cooperative Extension's 4‑H program.
In addition to welcoming new trustees, Council announced the establishment of an Investment Subcommittee that will oversee the management of short and long‑term investments that help sustain and support Cooperative Extension programs across the country.

The term Digital Art means that technology was used to create the artwork. Created by Purdue University Extension and brought to you by Google, youth will be able to identify basic digital art tools and their functions, create a simple digital artwork using shapes, lines, and colors, and you'll reflect on your creative process and the possibilities of digital art.
The 4‑H Thriving Model emphasizes belonging as a foundation for positive youth development. Harmony Academy, in collaboration with the National 4‑H Council, offers free resources to help! Quick Connection Cards and the Meet Up, Buddy Up Activity Guide provide conversation starters and engaging activities to build connections among youth in your 4‑H program.
