More than 57,000 votes cast in Michigan’s first-ever “I Voted” sticker contest

LANSING, Mich. – At the close of the public online voting period, more than 57,000 votes were cast to select Michigan’s official 2024 Presidential Election "I Voted" sticker designs. The winning designs will be available for Michigan clerks to order for the Nov. 5 election and give out to voters. 

“Participation in our state’s first-ever 'I Voted' sticker contest has exceeded my expectations,” Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said. “I’m thrilled to see the enthusiasm and support for these talented Michigan artists. Now it’s time for every eligible Michigan voter to continue that momentum and go cast your ballot in the Primary Election. There are several convenient options to vote – at an early voting site today through Sunday, by returning your absentee ballot to your clerk or secure ballot drop box, or at the polls on Election Day next Tuesday. Your vote is your voice – make sure your voice is heard in this and every election.” 

Secretary Benson launched the state’s first-ever “I Voted” sticker contest in May, at the suggestion of the Michigan Collegiate Student Advisory Task Force. Voting closed at 11:59 p.m. July 31. Winners will be announced in the coming weeks and will receive special recognition from Secretary Benson. Three winners will be selected in each category: elementary/middle school (grades K-8), high school (grades 9-12), and general entry (open to Michigan residents of all ages). 

Registered voters can cast their Primary Election ballot at an early voting location today through the end of the day on Sunday, Aug. 4. To find an early voting site and its hours of operation, visit Michigan.gov/EarlyVoting.  

Voters who still have an absentee ballot can return it to their clerk’s office, their designated early voting site, or a secure ballot drop box in their jurisdiction. Voters can look up their local options at Michigan.gov/Vote.   

Election Day is Tuesday, Aug. 6, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eligible Michigan residents can still register to vote in person at their local clerk’s office. Michigan law allows voters to register and cast a ballot on the same day.
