Voters See Kamala Harris as a Failure on Border Management
Rasmussen: President Joe Biden put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of efforts to control migration at the southern border, and most voters don’t think she’s done a good job of it. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 62% of Likely U.S. Voters consider the current situation with migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border to be a crisis (Rasmussen). Washington Examiner: Vice President Kamala Harris and her media allies have been in a mad scramble to hide her key role in the administration’s border crisis. And now we know why. Likely voters in the latest Rasmussen Reports survey not only give her effort a failing grade but plan to consider the disaster in their vote for president in November. According to the latest results shared with Secrets, 63% rate Harris “poor” to “fair” on the issue. Most, 48%, call her “poor.” Worse possibly is that among those who rate her job poorly are 53% of Hispanics, 50% of black voters, and 70% of independents (Washington Examiner).

Two Illegal Immigrants Released After Assaulting NYPD Officers
New York Post: A pair of migrant thugs who attacked two of New York’s Finest are back on the street after Manhattan prosecutors agreed to cut them loose without bail. Brian Joseph, 24, and Jose Gonzalez, 19, were both arrested Sunday after scuffling with cops on traffic patrol on Eighth Avenue shortly after 9:50 p.m. — allegedly biting one officer and hurling a moped at the other, according to law enforcement sources and officials. But when they were hauled into court on Monday, Manhattan prosecutors agreed to let them walk. A spokesperson for Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg did not immediately respond to a request for comment. “What kind of message is this sending to the public?” one ticked-off Manhattan cop told The Post. “They are basically saying anyone in a blue uniform is a human piñata.” Another police officer called it “allowing open war on cops. “Today they bite and kick a cop and tomorrow they take a shot at cops,” they said. “If there are no consequences they are only encouraging people to attack cops” (New York Post).

Texas Wins Immigration Lawsuit Over Biden Administration
Townhall: The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled in Texas’s favor, lifting an injunction that ordered the state to remove buoys it placed in the Rio Grande River to deter illegal border crossings. The Biden Department of Justice brought a legal challenge against the Lone Star State last year for installing the buoys without federal authorization. Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta claimed the floating barrier was a threat to navigation and presented a public safety concern. It also risked “damaging U.S. foreign policy” with Mexico over the country’s objection to the barrier (Townhall). Axios: Texas also enacted a strict new immigration law that gives state and local authorities the power to arrest and seek the deportation of people suspected of illegally crossing the border, although it’s currently on hold and unenforceable. The push came after years of unprecedented levels of migration across the U.S.-Mexico border (Axios).

National Review: Top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed during a visit to Iran for the inauguration of the nation’s new president. Elite Media Ignores U.S. Debt Reaching $35 Trillion
NewsBusters: The national debt reached an appalling new high of $35 trillion, yet ABC, NBC and CBS News kept their evening viewers completely in the dark. This new milestone went entirely unreported by ABC World News Tonight, CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News on June 29, despite the massive ramifications of the growing debt. By ignoring the increase in debt, the networks did not inform their viewers about the burgeoning threat to the federal government’s ability to fund Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare or the U.S. Military. They also overlooked how a growing national debt will lead to larger interest payments to service the debt (NewsBusters). Wall Street Silver: Since January 2020 the debt has ballooned by 50% from $23 trillion to $35 trillion. Interest on the debt is also skyrocketed with higher rates, averaging around 5% lately. Interest on the debt is on pace for $1.5 trillion next year, about 30% of all govt revenue collected (X).

Wall Street Journal: Meta Platforms is running ads on Facebook and Instagram that steer users to online marketplaces for illegal drugs, months after The Wall Street Journal first reported that the social-media giant was facing a federal investigation over the practice. The company has continued to collect revenue from ads that violate its policies, which ban promoting the sale of illicit or recreational drugs. A review by the Journal in July found dozens of ads marketing illegal substances such as cocaine and prescription opioids, including as recently as Friday. A separate analysis over recent months by an industry watchdog group found hundreds of such ads (Wall Street Journal). HotAir: XX-XY Athletics is a clothing company which sells a clothing line that promotes keeping men out of women’s sports. Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta, cripple their marketing for their products. TikTok banned them outright. But if you want to sell illegal drugs, such as cocaine and opioids, have at it. It features ads–which are vetted by Meta, Facebook’s (HotAir).

Law Enforcement Agencies Across California Face Staffing Crisis Ahead of Vote to Crack Down on Crime
Los Angeles Times: Police staffing across California is at the lowest point in decades, with rural communities struggling the most in efforts to recruit officers, according to a new report from the state’s largest law enforcement organization. The analysis comes just months ahead of an election in which Californians will vote on Proposition 36, a ballot measure that would toughen criminal penalties for retail theft and drug offenses and lead to an increase in arrests. The briefing report by the Peace Officers Research Assn. of California suggests more money should be poured into law enforcement agencies, especially rural ones seeing an exodus of officers, to help support officer recruitment and retention (Los Angeles Times). Washington Examiner: Police staffing in the Golden State has hit a 30-year low, according to an analysis by the Peace Officers Research Association of California, which represents more than 80,000 law enforcement officers (Washington Examiner).
