Dear Friend,
Long before the governor of Puerto Rico was forced to resign, social movements in Puerto Rico have been organizing to expose corruption and mobilize for sovereignty and self-determination. I'm proud to say that hundreds of thousands of Boricuas are carrying on the resistance, many with funding from Grassroots International.
But here's the challenge: ousting one corrupt political figure isn't going to fix the deep inequalities. Much more needs to be done, and we are asking you to stand in solidarity [ [link removed] ] with Puerto Rico by responding to this urgent appeal right now, when movements have momentum and action is critical:
* *Legal defense and "know your rights" communications* materials and training – many organizing to overturn the colonial system and disaster capitalist model are being criminalized, and they need your support.
* Organizer training and *capacity building*.
* Mobilization support, including *transportation and food*.
I'm so proud of the courageous and organized resistance that is also building an alternative future of self-determination and governance with dignity. We, as the philanthropic sector and progressive donor community, need to step up and support both the resistance and alternatives and contribute to decolonization of Puerto Rico.
Every dollar counts during this critical moment in Puerto Rico's history. So please make a donation of *$25, $50, $100 or more today [ [link removed] ]* to provide urgent legal defense, to support community-led resistance, and to build the capacity of social movements at a time they are being tested – and succeeding.
In solidarity,
Jovanna Garcia Soto
