Our top priority is slowing the spread of COVID-19. Consequently, we canceled all in-person campaign events for the foreseeable future and are relying on digital outreach. We appreciate your support during this challenging time.

Friends,

Last week I worked with a bipartisan coalition of state Attorneys General urging Donald Trump's Treasury Department to protect stimulus checks from being garnished by debt collectors. Garnishments freeze individuals' accounts at a time when they may be without income due to the pandemic, struggling to provide their family with basic necessities, and unable to go to court to challenge the garnishment.

Unfortunately, the Trump administration chose debt collectors over regular Americans struggling to pay their bills. Fortunately, Governor Inslee and I have different priorities.

We worked together to protect stimulus checks from garnishment. In our Washington, we've ensured that emergency stimulus checks are for food, rent, and economic stimulus -- not debt collectors.

I will continue working hard every day to protect individuals during this public health emergency.

Sincerely,
Bob
