Nearly 52 years ago, Shirley Chisholm announced she would run for President, making her the first Black woman or Black person to run for a major party nomination. The political establishment in her party ignored her, and her campaign struggled to gain ground.
And now, a Black woman is our presumptive nominee.
Like Yvette, Vice President Kamala Harris is the proud daughter of a Caribbean-American immigrant. In Congress, Yvette was proud to stand alongside Harris to achieve record market highs and unemployment lows and protect our immigrant communities.
But our fight isn’t over yet. The far-right extremists that have fought Yvette at every turn are embarking on a new mission: making sure Kamala doesn’t win. They don’t want a Black woman President and they really don’t want someone who can defeat Trumpism — aka Kamala Harris.
Friend, we can’t let the MAGA extremists win. Kamala Harris has spent her entire career fighting and prosecuting unremitting felons, and now, she’ll make sure one doesn’t return to the White House.
