Dear Neighbor, I hope you are well! I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on several happenings in the district as well as Harrisburg.

District Update

This week, I continue to highlight the advances the Pennsylvania budget will make toward our Commonwealth by highlighting its impact around business. The budget funds initiatives that will start us on a path to a stronger economy and a more vibrant community life. From increased resources in site development to state grants, the budget supports our Commonwealth’s business efforts. It’s also important to create communities that Pennsylvanians want to live in so that businesses have employees to hire. Next week I’ll discuss employment improvements from this year’s budget.

Currently, I am attending the Council of State Governments conference in Baltimore, Maryland. The event focuses on bringing state officials together to discuss a wide range of ongoing policy issues. In the end, our goal is to create a positive impact for residents and jurisdictions across the region.

Scam Jam

Next Friday, August 9th, I will be hosting a Scam Jam from 10AM-12PM at the Upper Providence Township Administration Building. This program is designed to help people spot and avoid frauds and scams. Don’t miss this special event where I team up with other PA departments and offices! Call my office at 484-200-8263 to register your attendance.

Summer Collection Drive

Just one week left! My office is collecting nonperishable foods, school materials, and cleaning supplies for my Summer Collection Drive. Drop off donations at my district office or at one of the local township or borough offices now through August 8th!

August Observances

PA Donor Day – August 1st

Tomorrow, August 1st is PA Donor Day! The day encourages Pennsylvanians to support organ and tissue donation by encouraging others to register as donors. Eight lives can be saved from just one organ donor. For more information on how to register, click the link here.

Coast Guard Birthday – August 4th

On Sunday, August 4th, the U.S. Coast Guard will be celebrating its 234th birthday! That day commemorates when Congress first authorized the construction of 10 vessels to enforce tariff and trade laws. We thank the Coast Guard for keeping the nation’s waterways safe.

Pipe Replacement – July 29th through August 2nd

At the end of July and beginning of August, there is planned pipe replacement occurring on Route 113. From Monday, July 29th to Wednesday, July 31st from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Route 113 will be closed between Black Road and Main Street. On Thursday, August 1st, and Friday, August 2nd, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Route 113 will be closed between Main Street and Route 29 (Gravel Pike). Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511pa.com.
