It is time to stand up to Donald Trump once and for all.

Armed protesters across the country have been descending -- close together, without masks -- on state capitol buildings calling for the re-opening of stores, restaurants, and salons. Their actions are putting our health at risk while their ideology is endangering American democracy. And they have a cheerleader in the President of the United States.

It is bad enough that Trump was unprepared for this pandemic. But now he is making matters worse by publicly encouraging the use of private arms to intimidate governors into rolling back life-saving public health measures.

His calls to "liberate Virginia" and other states are nothing short of inciting insurrectionism. While Trump may tell us he loves the Constitution, our Constitution was specifically designed to quell -- not support -- this type of extremism.

For more than a decade, I have been warning the country that the incessant stockpiling of arms will lead to a real threat of insurrectionism, and now here we are. Now more than ever, we need to call out the president and the gun lobby for their anti-democratic and dangerous rhetoric. We will continue to expose and shame armed extremists. We've come a long way, but to completely change the narrative, we need your help. Our health and democracy depend on it.
