Dear John,

“If we want coexisting states, we have to have coexisting narratives here in America, and not one narrative to the exclusion of the other. And I think that is an important part of peacemaking.”

That’s what I said during my thought-provoking discussion with Reza Aslan, esteemed Iranian-American writer and scholar of religions, about his newly released children’s book, A Kids Book About Israel and Palestine. With the recent decision by the International Court of Justice, Aslan’s most recent book is very timely.

A Kids Book About Israel and Palestine is available now and can be purchased online or in-store at any participating bookstore, including Barnes and Noble.

The book, noted for its straightforward and unbiased approach to the conflict, is designed for children ages 5 through 9. Aslan’s goal is to provide parents and children with a safe space to have difficult conversations about the ongoing struggle between Israel and Palestine.
“I wanted to give kids an emotional connection to this story, and to do that, I would have to write this in the ways that they think and the ways they understand the world,” says Aslan.

Again, you can watch the conversation HERE, and purchase the book HERE.
