Dear fellow advocates,
We're thrilled to announce the launch of National Solidarity Week! This is a week of active solidarity that goes beyond raising awareness—it's a powerful movement driving advocacy and education on the harmful impacts of the Grants Pass verdict, which criminalizes homelessness.
Join us in various forms of advocacy, including X-storms (formerly Twitter storms), Instagram posts, and other social media content, highlighting the consequences of the Grants Pass decision, local criminalization statistics, and related ordinances. Let's make a difference together!
Activities planned for the week include:
Saturday - Sunday: The National Sleepover in Miami will be live-streamed on social media, highlighting various advocacy activities throughout the weekend.
Monday - Tuesday: National advocates will engage in X-storms (formerly Twitter-storms), using the hashtag #NCHSolidarityWeek to share facts and information, educating the public about the harms of criminalizing homelessness.
Wednesday: NCH will launch a letter-writing campaign via X (formerlyTwitter) and email, urging participants to contact their local lawmakers and advocate for compassionate and humane solutions to support the homeless.
Thursday - Saturday: Resources will be provided on best practices for assisting the homeless, and stories of those directly affected by the Grants Pass verdict will be shared to highlight the human impact of these policies.
The National Coalition for the Homeless is committed to fighting for the human and civil rights of the unhoused. National Solidarity Week aims to demonstrate solidarity with the homeless through both ground-level actions and digital outreach.
The goal is to foster a more compassionate approach to homelessness, address systemic issues, and provide resources for those looking to host events such as soup kitchens, community outreach programs, or to donate to local homeless shelters.
