Earlier this week, I had an all-call with my campaign team. Especially now that we’re less than 100 days out, our Monday meetings are more important than ever. Winning this race is going to depend on being on the same page, hitting our goals, and operating as a well-oiled machine.
And this week, we started getting down to brass tacks on some of the spending we’ll be doing in the home stretch. How many yard signs and palm cards we’ll print. When and how often we’ll be polling. How aggressive we’ll be able to be with mail and TV.
Every monthly goal we’ve hit thus far has set us up for success—but we’ll be finalizing budgets sooner than you think, which means if we want to be able to hit our marks and match (or beat!) the GOP’s every move, we can’t let up.
This morning, my finance director let me know that we’re still $7,018 short of our fundraising goal for July. As I’ve said before, maybe the sky won’t fall if we don’t hit that number—but it will mean we’re more likely to have to make hard choices about some of the things I mentioned above.
Falling short could mean not having enough literature to hand out to voters on election day, or not having quite enough to run a final piece of mail reminding people to vote early, and in a state like North Carolina, where our elections so often come down to the wire, I’d rather not take any chances if I don’t have to.
So if you believe in our movement and our message and you want to help make sure we have the resources we need to get that message out to all one hundred counties and every voter that needs to hear it, I’m asking you to please make a contribution before midnight tonight. Every dollar adds up, and if we all stand together, I know we can hit our goal.
