ISDA completes Indiana?s inventory of lost farmland study
In 2023, the Indiana General Assembly passed?House Enrolled Act 1557, which tasked ISDA to complete an inventory of lost farmland in Indiana from 2010-2022.
ISDA determined through the inventory of lost farmland study that there has been an overall reduction of farmland acres of approximately 1.5-2% from 2010-2022. This represents a loss of approximately 350,000 acres. The results show that agricultural land was most likely to be lost in areas around the edges of cities and suburban areas. The primary cause of reduction in farmland was due to residential use.

ISDA attends trade mission to Indonesia with Indiana Soybean Alliance
ISDA International Trade Manager Megan Bixler recently returned from a trade mission organized by the Indiana Soybean Alliance to promote soybean exports to Indonesia. Indonesia is a leading global consumer of soybeans, primarily due to the prevalence of tempeh and tofu in local diets.
?With the largest and fastest-growing economy in Southeast Asia, continuing to develop this trade relationship with Indonesia will be beneficial for Indiana soybean farmers," said Bixler. "The demand for U.S. products in Indonesia is anticipated to increase in response to the country?s growing population and emphasis on food security.?
The delegation met with importers, government officials and foreign agricultural service staff in Indonesia to identify opportunities and address challenges for Indiana exporters.
