Louisiana lawmaker behind Ten Commandments bill is eyeing more culture war wins
Republican state Rep. Dodie Horton is also backing a bill to prohibit teachers from discussing gender identity or sexual orientation with students.
-- NBC Out
John, it's terrifying but true. The Louisiana state legislator, who violated the separation of Church and State, who successfully passed a bill requiring schools to post the Ten Commandments, is gearing up to pass more outrageous legislation. She also successfully passed the state's "Don't Say Gay" bill!
She claimed “Certain teachers use classroom instructional time to share their personal sexual orientation or gender identity preferences with our most vulnerable citizens, our children.” She even said that teachers are telling students, “Hey, everybody! I was a woman yesterday, but tomorrow I may be Mr. So and So.”
Dodie Horton and her toxic beliefs sink to new lows. Look, this woman's horrible bills is the best case we can make for electing LGBTQ+ voices at all levels of government. Louisiana has NEVER elected an out state legislator, and it's past time to change that. We NEED to elect LGBTQ+ people in Louisiana and beyond to drown out these bigots and block their toxic legislation. Chip in to stand against Dodie Horton and elect LGBTQ+ leaders!
Hateful rhetoric like this can't go unchallenged. If she can get away with it, other bigots will be emboldened. Extremists candidates are already demonizing trans lives on the campaign trail - and they're using anti-LGBTQ dog whistles against our candidates.
We know these attacks are ramping up, and we have to be ready to respond. With this much hate on the ballot, we can't afford to back down. Pitch in today to drown out Dodie Horton and elect LGBTQ+ leaders who will stand against him!
Thank you for pitching in,
