Friends,
As we all continue to shelter at home and practice social distancing, it is important that we remain aware of new challenges for ourselves and our neighbors.
Staying home may prevent the spread of the coronavirus, but for some it can result in other dangers.
External factors like stress and financial strain can negatively impact survivors of assault and abuse -- and at times compromise their safety.
During this difficult time, I am working with other leaders across the state to ensure that victims of domestic violence continue to have access to legal protections. Read my joint statement with Chief Justice Cheri Beasley here.
If you are a victim of domestic violence, you can reach the National Domestic Violence Hotline 24 hours a day at 1-800-799-7233.
Thank you for working with me to keep our communities safe,
Josh
