John,
We, the American people, as always, have to stand up for our democracy by voting in defense of democracy this fall.
The responsibility is ours, and so is the power. We as regular American citizens have immense amounts of power. I trust that with all of us standing together, and putting every ounce of energy we have into this cause for the next few months, decency and grace will prevail over extremism and fury.
There’s no doubt that we are in what feels like an unprecedented moment — but each generation has been asked to defend our democracy before. This is now our time.
The thing that keeps me hopeful and optimistic is understanding our nation's history. There have always been trying times, but when the people unite and work we always win, and democracy is always protected and enhanced.
From Valley Forge, to Gettysburg, to Seneca Falls, to Normandy, to Selma, to Stonewall, every generation of Americans is called upon to defend our democracy, and every generation of Americans has done so. Ours cannot be the first generation that fails to defend and enhance our democracy.
So I’m asking you to work with us at the NDRC. If we stand together, if we work together, if we sacrifice together, if we commit ourselves to this cause, I know that we can be that next generation to make our democracy better, and make our nation more fair.
The NDRC has a winning plan in place to help build a truly representative democracy — supporting outstanding candidates in key states, advocating for pro-democracy ballot measures, enhancing our partnerships, playing the long game with our 10 Year Plan, and more.
So let’s work together and let’s continue the project of building a better nation.
It takes all of us. The investment you make today will have an immediate impact in November and a lasting one for many years to come. So please, make a grassroots donation right away. [[link removed]]
