These past few weeks have been quite the whirlwind. Joe Biden announced he is stepping aside from seeking re-election as president and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the nomination.
There has been a lot of excitement within the Democratic Party, but we cannot slow down now – not with so much on the line. We have about 100 days until the November 5th election and it’s only going to get busier from here.
If you are ready to get to work and help deliver a strong Democratic victory this election, pitch in here: [link removed] [[link removed]]

Fighting for Workers Rights
Scott recently received the California Labor Federation’s “Labor Champion Award” and has a 100% rating from AFL-CIO! He has stated that he will always advocate for workers' rights and fight for better wages and working conditions.

Protecting Our Environment
This month, Scott co-introduced bipartisan legislation that would provide high-quality, verifiable data about emissions of U.S.-made products in comparison to international products to ensure fair competition on the global stage. This data will help show the benefits of America’s high environmental and labor standards while holding nations like China accountable for their emissions-intensive practices.

Protecting Communities from Wildfires
As wildfires continue to increase in frequency and intensity, so too does the harm to human health caused by the smoke. Last month, Scott co-introduced bipartisan legislation to address wildfires across the country that passed by voice vote. The Fix Our Forests Act will work to restore forest health, reduce catastrophic wildfires that contribute to pollution and climate change, and increase community resilience to fire threats. It is now eligible for consideration by the whole House of Representatives.

Student debt reduction
Scott recently co-introduced bipartisan and bicameral legislation – the Employer Participation in Repayment Act – to help Americans tackle their student loan debt by making permanent a tax provision that allows employers to contribute up to $5,250 tax-free to their employees’ student loans. The collective debt among Americans as of now is at $1.7 trillion, which severely limits our economic growth and the economic prospects of young adults. Scott is working hard to ensure students are able to afford and pay off loan debt.

Addressing the Tijuana River Valley (TRV) Sewage Crisis
San Diegans have been harmed by pollution crossing the border in the Tijuana River Valley for far too long. That’s why Scott helped pass the Water Resources Development Act, funding from which includes $200 million for San Diego County water and wastewater projects, funding to study flood risk management in San Diego Bay, and funding to study flood and coastal storm risk management and ecosystem restoration in San Diego and Orange counties. This money will be used to address the cross-border sewage crisis by fixing and upgrading the South Bay International Wastewater Treatment Plant as soon as possible.
