Dear John,
I have good news and bad news...
The good news is the First Circuit Court of Appeals just ruled in our favor in Berge v. Gloucester.
As you may recall, all Inge Berge wanted to do was watch his daughter's school play. But when COVID restrictions made it difficult for him to do that, he went to Gloucester Public School administration seeking answers.
He openly recorded his interactions with school administrators (he is a citizen journalist after all) and never hid the fact that he was filming.
He had perfectly pleasant and polite conversations with everyone he interacted with, but shortly after he posted the video to Facebook he received a letter demanding he take the video down threatening him with legal action.
That's when you helped the Center for American Liberty step in and sue Gloucester Public Schools for its infringement of Inge's constitutionally protected speech.
John, this victory at the First Circuit comes at a critical time -- when parental rights, including the right to speak out challenging school board decisions, are in jeopardy nationwide.
Unfortunately, that brings me to the bad news.
California Governor Gavin Newsom officially signed AB 1955 -- the new law banning school districts from enacting policies that would require school staff to notify parents if their child socially transitions his or her gender at school.
It is now against the law in California for teachers and guidance counselors to alert parents when their child is in crisis.
Let that sink in for a moment...
When it comes to radical policies, as California goes, so goes the nation -- so I'm turning to our very best supporters for urgent help today.
Will you donate $35 or more right away to help us defend parental rights?
Make no mistake, Gavin Newsom wants to indoctrinate your children and grandchildren with his dangerous ideology -- from California to Maine and everywhere in between.
This new law makes our work in Regino v. Staley and Bonta v. Chino Valley Unified School District even more important.
In fact, we are eager to see how a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals' decision in Regino v. Staley, which we argued back in May, might impact -- hopefully invalidate -- this new law signed by Newsom.
John, a lot of our cases are based in California. But every single one of them has national implications -- and our strategy is focused on the long game:
Protecting your constitutional rights and preserving your freedom to raise your children and grandchildren according to your values. No matter which state you call home.
So, please donate $35 or more today and help the Center for American Liberty continue leading the charge on these pressing issues in courtrooms across America.
Thank you for your continued support and friendship.
