My decision to run for Congress in NH-01 came down to the fact that some New Hampshire families were being left behind because too many elected leaders represent special interests donors and big corporations instead of their constituents.

For too long Republicans have targeted foundational programs like Social Security and Medicare so they can cover the costs of their massive tax breaks for the wealthiest people in our country.

Despite the president’s 2016 campaign promises to not be “like every other Republican” trying to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, he’s proposed trillions of dollars of cuts to these programs over the next ten years in his 2020 budget.

He deceived the American people into believing that he’d fight for the earned benefits that our seniors paid into over the course of their entire careers.

It’s up to us to ensure that initiatives like Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare are there for individuals when they leave the workforce so that they can have a dignified and secure retirement and live with independence.
