It’s been over two weeks since our nation came within centimeters of losing a formidable leader. Yet we still have far more questions than answers about the attempted assassination of President Trump.

Americans are rightfully upset. After all, this incident marks the first time in 43 years since a president or presidential candidate has been shot. Undoubtedly, if it weren’t for God’s hand of protection, President Trump wouldn’t be with us today.

But how did it happen in the first place? 

The lack of transparency surrounding the security plan, personnel, would-be assassin, and more have frustrated many Americans. Thankfully, House Republicans are committed to getting to the bottom of the events leading up to, on, and after July 13th.

Last week, the House hauled in several officials to testify under oath. As you well know, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle was first on the chopping block.

Last Monday, Cheatle appeared before the House Oversight Committee, where lawmakers pressed her on the catastrophic security failures that led to the assassination attempt of President Trump. Unsurprisingly, she failed to answer a single question or deliver an ounce of transparency. Her abysmal performance enraged both Republicans and Democrats to the point where we witnessed a rare bipartisan push for Cheatle to resign her post. The next morning, Cheatle resigned. While her departure was ten days too late, it marks the first step toward delivering accountability.

However, Congress may not be finished with former Director Cheatle. While she is no longer leading the Secret Service, she still has key information about the agency’s role in and response to the assassination attempt on President Trump. It’s possible that Cheatle will be subpoenaed again as both chambers forge ahead with investigating July 13th.

Additionally, FBI Directory Wray appeared before the House Judiciary Committee to give an update on the agency’s investigation. While Wray certainly answered more questions than Cheatle and delivered new details, he also made alarming claims that undermine his already-damaged credibility. For example, Director Wray testified that “there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that, you know, hit [Trump’s] ear.” The outrageous comment led the FBI to issue a statement clarifying that President Trump’s ear was in fact struck by a bullet.

Moreover, when pressed on Joe Biden’s health, Wray refused to admit that he has witnessed any mental decline in his interactions with the President. No American believes Director Wray — or any federal official, White House staffer, or Democrat lawmaker for that matter — didn’t have concerns about President Biden’s cognitive state prior to his trainwreck debate performance. If Wray will help conceal the truth about Biden’s capabilities, what else is he hiding?

Considering the Secret Service is under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), we also need to hear from DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. If you recall, he touted that he has “100% confidence” in Director Cheatle prior to her resignation. Given Mayorkas’ atrocious handling of the raging border crisis, it’s imperative that we meticulously analyze the Secretary’s communications and actions related to the assassination attempt. 

Rest assured, Congress is taking action. In our effort to deliver transparency and accountability to the American people, the House unanimously voted to establish a task force to swiftly and thoroughly investigate the assassination attempt on President Trump. I’m hopeful that this panel will be able to provide our country with the truth and answer all questions so we can ensure this evil never happens again.

Bottom line, we must leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of truth and justice. Please know that I will keep you and your family updated on this matter in the weeks and months ahead.

Back in 2021, President Joe Biden tasked Vice President Kamala Harris with addressing the “root causes” of illegal migration. Following the move, lawmakers and pundits on both sides of the aisle rightfully dubbed Harris the “Border Czar.” Yet with Kamala taking center stage as Democrats’ new presidential nominee, the left-wing media has suddenly rejected the label. Despite numerous outlets referring to Harris as the Border Czar in their own reporting, liberal reporters, anchors, and editors have coordinated an Orwellian effort to rewrite history in order to help their preferred candidate.

Yet the American people know the truth: Kamala Harris is the Border Czar — and she owns every bit of the intentional illegal invasion at our southern border. That’s why House Republicans passed a resolution strongly condemning Border Czar Kamala Harris’ purposeful failure to secure the border. Under her watch, there have been more than 9.7 million illegal alien encounters nationwide and over two million known gotaways. We have all seen that numerous illegals have committed heinous, violent acts on innocent Americans, such as the brutal murder of Laken Riley in our own Athens community. The White House’s open border agenda has also emboldened over 350 suspected terrorists to cross the southern border. Alarmingly, the Biden-Harris border crisis that continues to devastate our country is costing each taxpayer roughly $1,156 per year.

Folks, you deserve leaders in Washington who advance commonsense policies to bolster our border security and safeguard our communities. Yet for the last three and a half years, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have implemented a radical, taxpayer-funded, open border agenda. Please know that I remain committed to delivering the safe and secure nation that you and your family deserve.

Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a powerful speech to a joint session of Congress, showcasing the strong and enduring alliance between the United States and Israel. Netanyahu’s address highlighted Israel’s moral obligation to defend itself against Iranian and Iranian proxy aggression, as well as reiterated Israel’s ongoing war with Hamas terrorists. His words served as an important reminder to cherish the values of democracy and freedom that both our nations share — and underscored the need for a united front against those who seek to undermine these constitutional principles.

Unfortunately, we witnessed these radical forces just blocks from the U.S. Capitol. As Prime Minister Netanyahu addressed Congress, pro-Hamas demonstrations spread hate and destruction throughout Washington D.C. These protests were marked by despicable acts of disrespect and aggression that should concern all Americans. The Hamas sympathizers’ actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for our nation’s symbols, liberties, and values. For example, leftist demonstrators took down the American flag at Union Station, burned it, and then replaced it with the Palestinian flag. The agitators also vandalized federal property and assaulted U.S. Park Police officers. The rise of un-American behavior, antisemitic rhetoric, and violence across our country is truly alarming. Make no mistake, this is the direct result of decades of the Left indoctrinating Americans to disregard the rule of law, disrespect law enforcement, and disdain the United States.

Undoubtedly, these radical agents of chaos must be held accountable. While several individuals reportedly face federal charges, the vast majority of the Hamas sympathizers that terrorized our capital city will face zero consequences — perfectly illustrating our nation’s two-tiered system of justice.

As the 2024 Paris Olympics kick off, we’re thrilled to celebrate and extend our heartfelt congratulations to the remarkable athletes from Georgia who are ready to make their mark on the world stage. From the vibrant streets of Atlanta to the historic charm of Moultrie, our talented athletes are primed to showcase their skills and represent our state with pride.
