Dear Colleague,
This week the U.S. stopped funding the WHO until further investigation of its operations. To that end, Rebecca Oas, Ph.D., reports on the way the WHO’s Human Reproduction Program promotes abortion around the world, partners with the likes of International Planned Parenthood Federation and is funded by the U.S. government.
A UN human rights expert on disabilities criticized “prenatal testing, selective abortion and preimplantation genetic diagnosis” but fell short of calling for an end to the selective abortion of children with disabilities. Stefano Gennarini, J.D., reports.
At Turtle Bay and Beyond, Stefano looks at how the COVID-19 crisis is highlighting biological differences between the sexes and the need to collect sex-disaggregated data to better understand how they respond differently to the virus.
Stay well. Spread the word.
Susan Yoshihara, Ph.D.

The Coronavirus is Reminding us of Biological Differences Between Men and Women
|
by Stefano Gennarini, J.D.

Despite the tragedy and catastrophe brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, there is some good that might yet come from it. For starters, the pandemic has reminded us all of the precariousness of our human condition, and things that aren’t essential just don’t seem to matter so much anymore.
