If elected, Callie would be the first woman to represent this district. She comes from a strong line of Northern Michigan women, and as a mom of two young girls herself, she understands how important it is that we trust women in difficult circumstances to make the best healthcare decisions for themselves and their families.

Meanwhile, once she makes it through the primary, she will be up against a 77 year-old extremist Republican incumbent, who is a 2020 election denier and has co-sponsored a bill that bans abortions with no exception for the safety or life of the mother. Plus, he does not live in the district he represents, and he has not had a serious campaign mounted against him in six years.

Michiganders have continuously pushed back against restrictions to reproductive healthcare, and early polling indicated that Rep. Bergman is extremely vulnerable on this issue as this race comes to a statistical tie when voters learn about Bergman’s extremist position.
