Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting my office. I highly value the input I receive from constituents like you because it directly informs my voting decisions and policy positions. This type of open dialogue is extremely important to me as your Member of Congress.

I want to update you on some of the work I have been doing on behalf of Pennsylvania’s 2nd Congressional District. I'm proud to announce that in the 18 months I’ve represented the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia, our team has delivered $3.6 million in new federal funding to the Historic District. These investments are crucial, particularly as I lead the effort to hold a commemorative joint session of Congress in Philadelphia to honor the semiquincentennial of the Declaration of Independence. It will be a great honor for our City to host this historic joint meeting of Congress at the exact location where American democracy was born in 1776.

While I am always focused on the issues impacting our communities at home, I have also been keenly aware of developments abroad. On July 15th, I led a bipartisan letter to the newly elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, calling for the immediate repeal of the Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Act 2023, or “Troubles Act.” An announcement that this legislation will be repealed and replaced came just two days later.

Congress is now considering funding bills for Fiscal Year 2025. While I have been fighting for investments in our communities, the American public has witnessed Congressional Republicans’ refusal to pass traditionally bipartisan government funding bills. Instead, they are cramming the bills with culture war provisions that slash funding for crucial programs and priorities like environmental protection, nutrition assistance for children and families, assistance for seniors, aid for Ukraine, and much more. I intend to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to reach consensus on a FY25 government funding package that delivers results for communities in Philadelphia and across the country. Please know that I will continue fighting for investments in our families and communities as Congress considers future appropriations legislation.

Thank you again for contacting me. If you have any questions or concerns about this work or any other issue, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Brendan F. Boyle
Member of Congress
