Dear John,
I've got some important news.
You probably already know that the People’s Vote campaign is
planning one more huge march in London this October when we really
have to make our voice heard ahead of a decision that will decide all
our futures.
But I’m writing to tell you the date is changing to October
19th - a week later than planned.
The original date would have clashed with a sponsored run being
held that morning to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. We
didn't want those participating in the race to get caught up in the
vast crowds we’re going to have, to undermine fund-raising for one of
Britain's best-loved charities, or to do anything which might distract
attention from the importance of our march.
And the new date of October 19th - just 24 hours
after the European Council summit and 12 days before we’re due to
leave the European Union - may yet turn out to be a pivotal moment in
the history of our country.
Yes
I'll be there
It will be a march to save our democracy, our country and
our future.
Boris Johnson wants to force his scorched earth Brexit on us, even
though he explicitly ruled out No Deal in 2016. He does not have our
permission and, on October 19th 2019, he will hear our voice loud and
clear as we march together for a People’s Vote.
We know our three previous
marches have made a difference.
We know that this people-powered movement can change the course of
history again.
We know we can’t do it alone.
So tell your parents, tell your children, tell your friends, tell
your brothers and sisters, tell your neighbours.
In fact, tell passing strangers on the street and yes, tell that
distant second cousin once removed that you only usually see at
weddings and funerals.
We’re changing the date.
We’re changing history.
It’s October 19th – and we ALL need to be out marching on the
streets of London.
Yes
I'll be there
Thank you for everything.
Together we can win this.
Best,
Stephen Fry, Leading Supporter of the
People’s Vote campaign
