Friend, 

Today marks the 59th anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid — two programs that have provided tens of millions of Americans access to affordable health care coverage. 

Believe me when I say that I truly understand the critical role Medicare plays for our seniors. As my mom's caretaker, it has been my privilege and joy to ensure that she can age with dignity and comfort. There are a lot of big things that come along with that job, from managing her doctors' appointments to advocating for her care. 

I care about the people of all ages who make up our nation, Friend, and that's why I wrote the plan to expand Medicare while I was in Congress. I worked at the state and national level to expand health care access for Americans and protect our seniors who have worked their entire lives to earn their retirement. 

But extremist Republicans like my opponent, Rick Scott, are working to gut these critical programs. In fact, Rick Scott wrote the plan to defund Medicare — a plan that would increase the number of seniors living in poverty by 40%.

Friend, my mom is just one of the 65 million people across the United States who relies on Medicare. And if the GOP succeeds in cutting these critical benefits, she'll be one of millions whose futures will be put at risk. 

That's why I'm running for Senate in Florida, so we can keep our progressive, Democratic majority and retire dangerous politicians like Rick Scott once and for all. But I can't do it alone. 

So I'm personally asking: Will you chip in $5, $25, or whatever you can spare right now to help me reach my $4 million end-of-month goal, defeat Rick Scott, and keep the Senate blue?
