She is a lifelong student of Mother Earth’s wisdom and holds a bachelor’s degree in geology and a master’s in conservation biology. Undermining Indigenous Peoples’ Rights: The Ongoing Struggle for Recognition in UN Environmental Agreements

For decades, a troubling trend has persisted: the dilution or deletion of text about the rights of Indigenous Peoples from UN agreements, treaties, and resolutions, often under the disguise of “compromise.” This issue is strikingly apparent in recent agreements under major UN conventions such as the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD), (UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA). Read more.

Indigenous Media Conference 2024: Empowering Voices, Shaping Narratives

As a journalist passionate about Indigenous issues and Indigenous media, attending the Indigenous Media Conference 2024 was a transformative experience. The conference, held on July 25-27, 2024, in Oklahoma City, OK, was hosted by the Indigenous Journalists Association (IJA) and brought together nearly 500 Indigenous journalists, media professionals, and media experts worldwide. Read more.

On May 21-24, 2024, members of Cultural Survival and the SIRGE Coalition attended the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Forum on Responsible Mineral Supply Chains in Paris. This article shares some of the key highlights and concerns to offer potential solutions to the multi-level crises we face. It also provides a critical analysis of the OECD's role and suggests measures to prevent the continuation of colonial patterns of inequality and unfairness. Read more.

According to un.org, recent estimates suggest that 600 million jobs would have to be created over the next 15 years to meet youth employment needs. In 2021, approximately 75 million young people were unemployed, 408 million were employed, and 732 million were out of the labor force globally.
