Dear John,

July 30th marks the 10th World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. This year's theme, "Reach every victim of trafficking, leave no one behind," echoes our unwavering commitment to decimate trafficking and support survivors.

We believe that trauma-informed care and empowering survivors with the resources they need is a key part of breaking the cycle of trafficking. That is why we’ve recently implemented a new position: Victim Assistance Coordinators.

Nusura, Superintendent of Police at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Uganda, praises the impact our VACs are already making, saying, “HTI’s Victim Assistance Coordinators really help a lot. They have mapped out service providers that you may not know about... so the moment you call them, they can easily connect you to services to avoid the retraumatization of these victims who initially have nowhere to go.”

Beyond immediate assistance, our VACs ensure that victims can safely return home or find shelter, minimizing further harm and aiding in their recovery. This support extends across Uganda, creating a national network of assistance and hope.

On this World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we call on our entire community to join us in the fight.

Donate to Human Trafficking Institute today to strengthen justice systems and break the cycle of trafficking.

Together, we can reach every person under the control of a trafficker and ensure no one is forgotten or left behind.
