Dear John,

All across the five boroughs, I’ve been hearing the same thing: We need a safer, more affordable, more livable, and better run city.

That’s why today I’m announcing my candidacy for Mayor of New York City.

Will you make a Day One contribution of any amount right now to help me launch the campaign? [[link removed]]

I fall in love with this city over and over again — and I know you do, too. For me, it’s the summer concerts in Prospect Park, seeing the bright promise of kids at a CUNY graduation, or discovering a new street food (have you tried fuchka ?). Everyone has their old favorites, and NYC offers new ones all the time.

But lately, New Yorkers who stop me on the street are increasingly frustrated with the city’s direction. Why does a city that means so much to so many, have leadership that delivers so little for so few?

New Yorkers travel too long, to work too many hours, to pay too much rent – all to worry too much and feel too unsafe.

If you want to see that change, will you make a donation as a Day One donor to my campaign for Mayor in 2025? Contributions from New York City residents are matched 8 to 1 under the City’s matching funds program. [[link removed]]

We grind here – it’s part of who we are, part of our identity as New Yorkers, and we carry it around like a badge of honor. That grind means we love this place. It’s how we show up for each other. We may not always be polite – but we’re respectful, honest, and trustworthy. And above all else, we get the job done – no excuses.

But where’s that from Mayor Adams?

Nothing can replace New York City. But we can replace a leader when they fail the basic tests of the job: to be honest with us, to keep our families safe, to do everything possible to make sure housing is affordable, to ensure our kids get the best education, to turn our grind and our generosity into effective action.

It’s time for strong, experienced leadership that delivers real results for New Yorkers.

I know some say we have to point fingers, to demonize each other, or to give up on what makes New York City special.

I say we’re in this together. And together, let’s write the next great chapter on the sidewalks of New York.

Thanks for all you’ve done so far.

More soon,

Brad
