Expanding Renewable Energy on Public Lands

Recently, I spoke in support on my bill to promote the responsible development of wind, solar, and geothermal energy on public lands.

As we look to secure American energy independence while reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, it’s critical that Congress does everything it can to build out our renewable energy resources. Managing Spent Nuclear Fuel

Rep. Mike Levin Meeting with Department of Energy Officials

As the Representative for the area surrounding the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, I know how important it is to find a solution for our nation’s spent nuclear fuel.

I recently secured $55 million for the Department of Energy (DOE) to take the next steps for the safe removal and management of America’s spent nuclear fuel. This will allow DOE to progress towards building an interim storage facility and long-term solution for our nuclear waste.

This funding comes in addition to the $93 million I previously secured for this work, bringing the total funding I’ve secured for managing spent nuclear fuel to over $148 million. I’m excited to bring us one step closer to getting the spent fuel out of San Onofre and to a safe home.

I recorded a short video at each project I visited, and you can view them all on my YouTube channel.
