Dear John,

Joining Chairman Moolenaar for a Roundtable on Gotion's Concerning Connection to the Chinese Communist Party

On Friday, I joined Select Committee on the CCP Chairman John Moolenaar in Michigan for a roundtable on Gotion High Tech's disturbing ties to the CCP and their state sponsored slave labor.

During the roundtable we heard from community leaders and experts about the risks the proposed plants in Michigan and Illinois would create for our region and our national security.

The proposed plant in Illinois, will receive taxpayer subsidized funding to the tune of $500 million from the State of Illinois, with the potential to receive additional federal funding from measures included in the Inflation Reduction Act.  According to Gotion High-Tech’s bylaws, it is required "to carry out Party activities in accordance with the Constitution of the Chinese Communist Party.

Investigating the Attempted Assassination of President Trump

Last week, the House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution to create a Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump.

This task force will investigate and fully examine all departments and agencies who were responsible for the failure of protection at President Trump's Pennsylvania rally. People must be held accountable, and the lapse in security must be uncovered so we can prevent another horrendous event like this from occurring.

Strengthening our Foster Care System

The bipartisan Protecting America’s Children by Strengthening Families Act will reform and reauthorize the Title IV-B child welfare program.

Last Wednesday, the Ways and Means Committee unanimously advanced my bill to strengthen and keep families together and support the safety and well-being of children in foster care.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's Joint Address to Congress

With hostages still in Hamas captivity, Israel has every right to continue its defense. As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I will continue to work with my colleagues to return every hostage, put an end to Hamas terrorism, and support Israel and our allies in the Middle East.

I was disgusted by the vile antisemitic and anti-American actions taken by rioters near the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday. The desecration of our flag and historical monuments has no place in our country and these actions should be condemned by all.

Visiting with the Illinois Farm Bureau

It was great to visit with farmers, state and local leaders, and the Illinois Farm Bureau in Washington! There are many important issues concerning farmers in the months ahead like the Farm Bill and expiring tax provisions in 2025. I look forward to continuing to work with folks involved in Illinois agriculture and getting their input on these topics.

Our office will always advocate for Illinois farmers and producers.
