Friends,
Rising housing costs are a big worry for working families. Right now, 25% of renters spend over half of their income on housing, leaving little money for other needs and increasing the risk of becoming homeless.
In Northern Michigan and the UP, the leading causes of homelessness for families are:
- Lack of affordable housing supply
- Unemployment
- Low wages
High rent and insufficient income make it hard for families to afford a place to live.
Housing insecurity is a result of policy choices, not inevitable outcomes. The need for jobs and fair wages is clear.
Making housing affordable is crucial to stabilizing families and our economy, especially in Northern Michigan and the UP.
Winning a majority in the House is a significant first step in tackling these issues. I have an election in just eight days and need your continued support. We’re fighting for affordable housing, childcare, education, and universal healthcare - especially reproductive freedom. Most importantly, we’re fighting for an economic system that works for everyone.
Join our fight. Every dollar makes a big difference in our ability to defeat people uncommitted to helping everyday hardworking families thrive.
Thank you,
-Bob
