When you are in the military, you are either in a crisis, or you are planning for a crisis. My training in the Navy has helped keep me laser focused on how we are getting personal protective equipment to our frontline workers, relief to our small businesses, and support for our families struggling right now.

Today, the House sent a $500 billion package to provide additional funding for small businesses, hospitals, and COVID-19 testing to the President’s desk. This funding is critical, but we must do more for New Jersey. We need additional support for our state and local governments, and more of this funding must come directly to our state.

As we continue to fight COVID-19, we also must prepare for the next challenge: safely getting Americans back to work and taking steps to prevent a second wave of the pandemic.

Yesterday, I announced that I’m launching a bipartisan Regional Recovery Task Force with my Republican and Democratic colleagues from across the Northeast.

Our group mirrors the regional approach taken by our Governors, using the experience of the Northeast to put forward bipartisan policy proposals and legislation for increasing access to testing and contact tracing, replenishing stockpiles of personal protective equipment, and ensuring production of critical supplies and pharmaceuticals comes back to the United States.

I’ve always worked to reach across the aisle, and this crisis has shown just how important it is to stand together. I will keep you updated on the progress of this group.
