Can you believe, in this time of national crisis, my opponent is attacking my nearly 30-year military career and questioning my service to our country? Well, I don’t like repeating myself, so I thought I’d share with you this video we made when I began this campaign.

I want to make this perfectly clear. I made a tough decision that saved American lives. In the process, I pissed off some DC bureaucrats who never set foot in a combat zone. Real leaders are accountable for their actions. I did what I had to do to save lives, and it is a decision I would make again. Full stop!

I was on the frontlines of 9/11 and was one of the first people on the ground to rebuild Iraq. Now, we face a crisis of a magnitude we have not seen in a century, and my battle-tested leadership experience is needed more than ever as we work to recover in this new battle.

We need a leader who won't shy away from speaking the god-honest truth, even when it’s an uncomfortable one. We need strength and someone who is unapologetic about doing the right thing at the helm to get Texans and the rest of America through this economic and health crisis.

As they say, true warriors rarely pick their battles; they are chosen for them. We are all warriors, and we will win this.
