On July 21, CEP President and Former U.S. Homeland Security Advisor Frances Townsend was named as part of a bipartisan panel of experts conducting a 45-day independent security review of the July 13 attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Following the attempted assassination at a rally in Pennsylvania, in which former volunteer fire chief Corey D. Comperatore was shot and died at the scene, President Joe Biden directed the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to conduct a full and independent review. Ms. Townsend has been named as one of four prominent individuals on the panel.
