MEDIA ADVISORY AND PRESS RELEASE
Congressman Al Green Releases Statement on Joining President Biden to Celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
(Houston, TX) — On Monday, July 29, 2024, Congressman Al Green released the following statement:
“Today, I have the honor of having been invited by the President to attend his visit to the LBJ Presidential Library as we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. I was not there when our great President Lyndon Baines Johnson signed this historic act into law. However, I am more than elated to be present as our great President Joe Biden commemorates this signing. As a result of President Johnson signing this act into law, much progress has been made. Our nation is a better nation, our people have greater opportunities. While there is still major work to be done, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 has brought us closer to liberty and justice for all.”
