Legislators are trying to include the harmful EATS (Ending Agricultural Trade Suppression) Act in the Farm Bill. This bill would overturn Prop 12 and similar state laws that ban gestation crates, battery cages, and other cruel farming practices.

Proposition 12, a landmark California law passed by voters in 2018 and upheld by the Supreme Court in 2023, is now at risk. If parts of the EATS Act are included in the Farm Bill, it could undo years of progress in animal protection.
