Dear Defender of Wildlife,
How could they?
That was my reaction on first seeing the Trump administration’s newly proposed Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulations.
This much is clear: Under these regulations, more wildlife will die. And more species may even go extinct.
Help us do whatever it takes to stop this threat to wildlife – including taking the Trump administration to court – with an emergency contribution!
The world is still reeling from a chilling report by an international panel of global scientists on the accelerating rates of extinction for many of Earth’s species – in fact, up to 1,000,000 species worldwide may be threatened with extinction in coming decades.
And Defender of Wildlife, once these species go extinct, we’ll lose them forever.
With wildlife already in such a vulnerable position, these new regulations are a deadly giveaway to Big Oil, Big Mining, agribusiness and other special interests who won’t think twice about driving heavy machinery over denning polar bear families, poisoning prairie dogs and deafening whales with their seismic testing blasts – all in the relentless pursuit of profit at the expense of animals’ lives.
The Endangered Species Act is our most effective tool in protecting threatened and endangered species. And if we let corporate interests ruin this key law, animals will die.
