Ohio Capitol Journal: Ohio’s voter purge “disproportionately targets voters of color”, civil rights organizations say [[link removed]]
Ohio is removing nearly 160,000 voters from the rolls, John.
More than half of Ohio voters who might be purged from the state’s voter rolls are registered in counties where a majority of the population is non-white. Civil rights organizations on the ground say that Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s voter purge disproportionately goes after those voters of color.
This is yet another example of partisan elected officials using state law to suppress voters who don't vote for them or their party. The easiest way to secure the results they want is to pick and choose which voters get to count in November.
We must fight voter purges like this in Ohio and elsewhere across the country. Chip in $25 or whatever you can to end this suppressive practice and make every voice heard in our elections >> [[link removed]]

“ What our politicians should be focusing on is expanding voting rights rather than trying to restrict them ,” said Bria Bennett, of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative.
“ It appears to me that this purge disproportionately targets voters of color, many of whom have long been disenfranchised from the political process, either because of discriminatory barriers that prevent them from exercising their power to vote or people’s life circumstances that have prevented them from being able to fully participate in our democracy ,” said Ohio Unity Coalition Executive Director Pierrette Talley.
They're both right. This is just an extension of decades-long practices to restrict access to the ballot box and reduce voter participation, excluding the very voices that most need to be heard.
Opponents of voting rights will use every trick and tactic at their disposal, John, to stop people from voting. Fuel our work to stop them with $25 or however much you can so that every vote counts >> [[link removed]]

Integrity First Voter Action Project is dedicated to expanding ballot access and increasing voter participation across the country.
Since the Supreme Court gutted key provisions in the Voting Rights Act, extreme politicians have taken advantage to pass harsh laws that restrict access to the ballot box. These restrictions particularly affect disadvantaged communities and people of color. It’s our goal to bring awareness to these laws wherever they may crop up and organize voters to take action to ensure the right to vote is available to everyone in their states and communities.
