I wanted to make sure you saw this, John:
My bill to protect security deposits has been highlighted in the Sacramento Bee:

I have seen first-hand in my time in office how renters’ needs are often put behind homeowners, and far, far behind those of landlords. One place that is exploited is the lack of clarity around security deposits.
Security deposits can be prohibitively expensive, and tenants’ ability to get them back can vary from landlord to landlord. Sometimes they’ll even be held to improve the unit for the next tenant, after withholding repairs during the past occupancy.
If you didn’t damage anything, you deserve to get it back. It’s as simple as that.
My bill, AB 2801, will ensure that you do.
As your next representative in Congress, I will bring my experience getting things done for everyday Californians to Washington to make meaningful changes for all Americans - especially those in CA-30.
Our district deserves proven, effective leadership to continue in Washington. If you’re able, please donate $3 today to help support my effort to succeed Adam Schiff.
