Hi John, this is Delia Ramirez, the U.S. Representative of Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District and newest member of the Justice Democrats bloc.

I was honored when Justice Democrats endorsed me earlier this year, and I’m proud to stand with the Squad in Congress. Together, we’re building a people-centered, progressive movement of diverse leaders fighting for those left behind by the corporate-backed career politicians who maintain the status quo.

But standing on the right side of history and pushing for progress isn’t popular with those who benefit from business-as-usual. I saw firsthand how Republicans and far-right groups like AIPAC attacked Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush for introducing a ceasefire resolution last October. AIPAC and their GOP megadonor network are threatening to spend $100 million to oust these progressive incumbents from office this year.

From having the moral courage to stand up for Palestinian human rights to leading the fight for housing justice, healthcare for all, public education, abortion rights, and more, the Squad represents a beacon of hope and progress in Washington we simply can’t afford to lose.

Justice Democrats launched their Protect the Squad campaign to build the grassroots resources needed to re-elect Squad members facing tough re-election fights this year. Unfortunately, AIPAC succeeded in defeating Rep. Jamaal Bowman in the most expensive House primary in history — but we still have time to protect the rest of the Squad, starting with Cori Bush on August 6th.
