Friend —
We are emerging from an unprecedented moment in our nation’s history, and a historic turning point that we will look back on for decades to come. In this day and age, that means if you're anything like us, your inbox is filled with requests from political campaigns and organizations asking for donations.
With your permission, I’d appreciate the chance to make the case for why a donation to my campaign for U.S. Senate is one of the most strategic contributions you can make at this moment.
Let me start with what you probably already instinctively know: Michigan is going to be a critical state for the 2024 campaign — and this weekend’s news only solidified that.
But you were probably already sold on the importance of Michigan. So, aside from the fact that control of the U.S. Senate is at stake (!), what about my race? Why donate to my campaign?
This is one of the rare open Senate races without an incumbent running. That means we have A LOT of introducing of me to do across the state. We are running TV ads all across the state, but it’s important we continue to do the work of reaching voters all the way through Election Day.
Reaching those folks takes resources, and that's not something I can do without you.
Add the fact that this is going to be one of the most expensive races in the country — not just with candidate spending, but outside spending too.
And I'll close with the news that in all of my elections, I have historically done better than Democrats usually do in the "redder" areas of the state. That means I am finding and pulling voters other races couldn't, and that is good for everyone up and down the ballot on Election Day.
So yes, this race is kind of a unicorn. It's a unique situation where control of the White House and Congress is on the line, most voters don't know the candidates yet, and because our race is the top of the ticket in the state, our campaign will likely impact the presidential.
