John,
Right now, in classrooms across America, students are being taught that corporate tax dodging "protects employment and job creation." They're learning that workers—not CEOs or shareholders—"bear the burden" of corporate income taxes.[1]
These right-wing trickle-down talking points are being taught in schools across America right now.
The Tax Foundation, a right-wing group backed by billionaires and corporations, has launched TaxEDU—a curriculum that's infiltrating high school and college classrooms nationwide. Their goal is to indoctrinate the next generation with trickle-down economic myths that benefit the ultra-wealthy at the expense of working families.
This isn't education. It's propaganda.
TaxEDU's materials claim that corporate income tax is "one of the most harmful and least efficient ways to fund our priorities."[2] They warn students that "you and the economy suffer" if companies pay their fair share in taxes. It's a playbook straight out of the 1980s, repackaged for a new generation.
We can't let billionaires and corporations brainwash our kids and undermine our democracy. That's why we're calling on Education Secretary Miguel Cardona to publicly reject TaxEDU and keep this dangerous propaganda out of our schools.
Write to Secretary Cardona now urging the U.S. Department of Education to denounce TaxEDU and protect our students from corporate tax propaganda!
To make matters worse, The Tax Foundation isn't just targeting classrooms. They've helped shape "Project 2025"—a radical blueprint for amassing even more wealth and power among the wealthy few under a potential second Trump presidency.
The stakes couldn't be higher. As wealth inequality soars and billionaires amass unprecedented fortunes, the last thing we need is a generation of students indoctrinated to believe that making the rich pay their fair share will harm the economy.
TaxEDU materials were used in 1,500 classrooms across the country in 2023 alone. Their "explainer" videos have been viewed over 300,000 times since 2022. The TaxEDU website has received more than 3 million views since 2021.
It’s clear that this isn't just a few isolated incidents. It's a coordinated campaign to shape young minds in favor of policies that benefit the ultra-wealthy. But together, we can fight back. By raising our voices and demanding action from Secretary Cardona and the Department of Education, we can protect our education system from this corporate takeover.
Join us in telling Secretary Cardona: Publicly reject TaxEDU and keep billionaire propaganda out of our classrooms!
Together, we can build an education system—and an economy—that works for all of us.
Thank you for being a crucial part of this fight.
