This is urgent — we need all hands on deck to fight back.

As of this week, eight states have attempted to enact temporary restrictions on abortion access during the pandemic.

Republicans are using the COVID-19 crisis as a rationale to limit access to reproductive health care and advance their anti-abortion agenda. States like Ohio, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Iowa have already taken action to temporarily ban abortions during the pandemic; other states are considering following their lead.

Texas also temporarily put a ban on abortions — but after activists and organizations called out this unconstitutional attack, Texan leaders gave in and allowed abortions to resume again.

We need to keep sounding the alarm so we can stop every state attempting to block access to abortion. Please add your name to our petition demanding that Republicans to follow Texas’ lead and stand down.

Republicans are taking advantage of a national emergency to push a political agenda and create more barriers for women to access essential health care services. In their minds, this is the perfect time to attack – deeming abortions as “non-essential” elective procedures.

We can’t emphasize enough how much permanent damage these attacks will have if we don’t fight back hard and fast.

Clinics that were forced to shut down don’t know if they’ll financially be able to re-open later on. More and more conservative states are feeling emboldened to use emergency measures to strip away access to abortion services. It sets a dangerous precedent that will continue to hurt us even after this crisis ends.

Thousands of women are already suffering under these draconian bans. With no way to access an abortion in their own state, the only option for many is to drive hundreds of miles to receive the medical help they need.

We can’t let these cruel attacks go unanswered. We must send a strong message to Republicans that we’re fighting back; that we refuse to just stand by as they strip away our constitutional rights.
