A lot of folks probably don’t know this, but Kamala Harris and I actually go way back.
Both of us came up in public service as district attorneys, and over the last decade, we’ve fought hard to protect our communities and provide opportunities for all families.
She’s been a mentor and friend for more than 14 years, and our relationship has helped shape how I view public service.
I often refer to her as “ my quintessential big sister ,” because she has always shown up for me when I needed her.
In fact, when I first won my race to become Prince George’s County Executive, one of the first calls I received was from her.
I’d like to share one piece of advice that she shared with me: More important than being first at something is to make sure you are not the last.
And now that we’re standing on the precipice of electing our country’s first woman president, that advice feels more appropriate than ever.
Once again, it seems we have a huge opportunity to elevate one another’s message and campaign, and deliver for those we seek to represent.
Will you please split a $25 donation right now between my campaign and Democracy Defense Action to help me defeat Republican Larry Hogan so Kamala Harris has a Democratic Senate majority on Day 1? [[link removed]]
This whole election cycle boils down to this:
Will our country be dragged backwards, reverting back to an era of fear, overreach, and fewer rights?
Or will we come together, build a winning, vibrant coalition of supporters who recognize that we’re stronger, and better, when we come together as a country and embrace progress?
In both Kamala Harris’ race and my own, that’s the fundamental question.
Donald Trump IS the MAGA agenda, and Republican Larry Hogan would be another rubber stamp for it in the Senate.
That’s why we need to win BOTH the White House and the Senate in November, but it’s going to take the biggest, broadest grassroots movement our state has ever seen, so we’re going to need a lot of resources. Which is why I’m asking: Can you pitch in a split donation, with Democracy Defense Action, of $25 today to keep Maryland blue and help propel our country forward? [[link removed]]
