Women in Sudan

RUSH A GIFT

Among the 10 million displaced people in Sudan, more than 1.5 million are women and girls of reproductive age, including nearly 150,000 currently pregnant women. Nearly 50,000 births are expected in the next three months.

Millions are at risk of starvation. Malnutrition will further exacerbate health challenges for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

The displacement crisis in Sudan has led to a worrying increase in sexual violence and violence against women.

“The soldiers attacked me until I collapsed, then they raped my daughter before fleeing,” Nisreen told us. “Some villagers discovered us and rushed us to the nearest health center. When I woke up, I realized I had lost the use of my legs. Medical exams confirmed that my nervous system had been irreversibly damaged. I’m paraplegic.”

Meanwhile, humanitarian access is compromised in conflict zones, impacting medical care, maternal health, and the supply of menstrual products.

Powered by your emergency gifts, UNFPA has already reached 168,000 women and girls with sexual and reproductive health supplies, supported 2,806 safe births, and delivered 47,951 Dignity Kits.

But with millions displaced and still in need of reproductive care, women and girls are counting on your support today.

Quickly, will you rush an emergency gift today to deliver lifesaving care to women and girls in Sudan and wherever support is needed most?
