Legislating for the Lowcountry Oversight Hearing With Director of the United States Secret Service Kimberly Cheatle We asked questions during a critical Oversight Hearing with Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle regarding the July 13th assassination attempt on former President Trump. We grilled Director Cheatle on the Secret Service's failure to prevent this tragedy. Despite repeated questioning, she failed to provide clear answers regarding how many times the Secret Service denied protection to President Donald Trump before the assassination attempt. What we witnessed on Monday was an unacceptable performance by Director Kim Cheatle. A colossal failure of this magnitude is a matter of national security. We are sick and tired of the lies being fed to the American people. We need leadership that prioritizes the safety of our nation’s leaders and provides honest, straightforward answers to Congress and the American people. You can watch our full line of rapid fire questioning here or by clicking the photo above. Filing Articles of Impeachment Against Director Cheatle Following the appalling responses during the Oversight Hearing, our office took unprecedented action: On July 22, we filed a privileged motion to impeach Director Kimberly Cheatle. This marks the first time in American history that the House will vote on impeaching an "inferior officer" not subject to Senate confirmation. We introduced these articles because of her gross dereliction of duty since July 13th that led to the death of a father and an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Director Cheatle not only failed to provide us with answers, but she also blatantly stonewalled our efforts to obtain a timeline of events. Her performance was an affront to accountability and transparency, showcasing her complete inability to lead. She failed to provide us with answers. She failed to tell us a timeline. She failed in every way imaginable. Luckily for her, she stepped down before the House took a vote. You can watch us introduce the impeachment articles here. We Introduced a Resolution To Invoke The 25th Amendment Our office has taken decisive action by introducing a resolution urging Vice President Kamala Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment. This comes in response to mounting concerns about President Joe Biden's cognitive health and his unexpected withdrawal from the presidential race. We believe that the American people deserve a president who is fully capable of leading our nation, and President Biden's recent actions have raised serious alarms. Despite efforts to downplay these concerns, we believe the evidence has become undeniable, and it's crucial for the stability of our nation that this matter is addressed promptly and decisively. We Introduced a Bill To Label Taliban As a Terrorist Organization Our office has introduced the "Preventing the Recognition of Terrorist States Act of 2024" which takes a firm stand against the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. This bill ensures that the United States will never recognize the Taliban as a legitimate government. It prohibits any federal agency from implying such recognition or using taxpayer funds to support policies that would legitimize the Taliban's rule. Furthermore, the bill requires the Secretary of State to officially designate the Taliban regime as both a state sponsor of terrorism and a foreign terrorist organization. You can read our press release for this bill here. Oversight Hearing on Eliminating Inconsistent Regulations to Enhance Cybersecurity Our office held a hearing titled “Enhancing Cybersecurity by Eliminating Inconsistent Regulations” because we recognize the urgent need to address the current chaotic state of cybersecurity regulations. Federal rules meant to protect us from cyber threats are often overlapping and inconsistent, creating confusion and inefficiency for key industry players. We believe that strong, centralized leadership from the Executive Office of the President is essential to streamline these regulations. Our goal is to ensure a cohesive approach that checks bureaucratic overreach and protects the broader interests of our nation. This hearing was a crucial step toward achieving a more effective and unified cybersecurity strategy. You can watch the full hearing here. South Carolina Prayer Breakfast We spoke at Senator Tim Scott’s 14th annual South Carolina Prayer Breakfast, a time filled with fellowship and remembrance for all of God’s great blessings. We prayed over our state and our leaders both locally and nationally. The event provided a moment of pause in our busy lives to remember the many blessings bestowed upon our great state. Together, we lifted our voices in prayer for South Carolina, its people, and our dedicated leaders at both the local and national levels. Senator Scott led us in a heartfelt invocation, reminding us of the power of faith and community in addressing the challenges we face. The breakfast served not only as a time of prayer but also as an opportunity to strengthen the bonds that unite us as South Carolinians. Our meeting with Amr al-Beidh from Yemen focused on U.S.-Yemen relations and the Houthi terrorist designation. We discussed the ongoing conflict and potential diplomatic strategies. Their work does not go unnoticed and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for each of them! In the News: ABC News: GOP Rep.
