Dear Reader,

On this day thirty-five years ago, Richard John Neuhaus founded the Institute on Religion and Public Life, the 501(c)3 nonprofit publisher of FIRST THINGS. I invite you to join FIRST THINGS in celebrating the inestimable legacy he left through our second annual Founder’s Day.

Fr. Neuhaus bequeathed to FIRST THINGS a rich editorial heritage, a deep stable of talented authors, and a community of thoughtful readers like you.

What is less widely known is that he also left a significant material bequest—a bit of characteristic foresight that positioned FIRST THINGS to flourish after its legendary founder shuffled off this mortal coil.

As such, FIRST THINGS honors those who pledge an estate gift to FIRST THINGS as members of the Richard John Neuhaus Society.

Estate gifts offer a unique opportunity to leave a transformative legacy with FIRST THINGS while often yielding significant tax benefits to you as a donor.

To learn more about including FIRST THINGS in your estate plans, please visit firstthings.com/RJN ([link removed]) or click on the button below.

If you have already included FIRST THINGS in your estate plans or are ready to make an estate pledge now, please visit the same link and fill out the brief form embedded there.

You can also contact Carter Skeel, Director of Institutional Advancement, at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]?subject=RJN%20Society%20inquiry&body=) or 212-627-1985 for more information. FIRST THINGS thanks you for your readership, support, and consideration!
