Dear PFAW Member,
While national and international news syndicates drive coverage of politics, economics, and events from the perspective of urban centers from London to Washington, D.C., local papers are often one of few sources of news that impacts people in rural communities. Without support, many of these lifelines might not be able to survive the economic hardships related to the coronavirus crisis.
Just like other essential employees in these challenging times, local journalists are struggling with the rapidly changing reality and financial downturn. The cost of this, combined with the decrease in corporate ad buys, is quickly chipping away at an industry that was already struggling prior to this crisis.
We're asking for $5 billion to support papers across the country-- less than 1% of the funding that has already been allocated to support corporations. Can you sign the petition?
